Zarif: Iran-France relations on right track

Tehran, July 3, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that Tehran-Paris ties are on the right track.

Zarif made the remarks during a meeting in Tehran with visiting Secretary-General of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development Christian Masset.

Urging the need for further political dialogue between Iran and France, the foreign minister expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries will be continued.

Zarif also touched upon the regional developments, saying Iran is ready to provide the Syrian nation with humanitarian supplies.

Iran will welcome any initiative by the French government to find a political settlement to the ongoing crisis in Syria, Zarif said.

The French official, for his part, said that economic relations between Iran and France have increased remarkably following a landmark nuclear deal between Iran and the six world powers in July 2015.

France seeks to remove obstacles in the way of Tehran-Paris relations and to devise mechanisms for continued cooperation, Masset said.

Noting that his country wants an immediate end to the recent crisis in relations among Persian Gulf countries, he said that France welcomes mediating efforts by other countries to put and end to the crisis.
