Attacking Daesh positions shows Iran's hard power: MP

Tehran, June 19, IRNA – Iran’s powerful attack on Daesh positions demonstrated the country's hard power to the world, said an Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Member on Monday.

“Iran has long been engaged in a serious fight against Daesh terrorist group (ISIS) and rained confronting them with no reservation,” the Deputy Chairman of Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Kamal Dehghani Firouzabadi told the Islamic Republic News agency (IRNA) on Monday.

The missile attack against Daesh command centers showed that we are able to target the terrorists’ bastions hundreds of kilometers away from our borders, he added, saying that Iran has yet to utilize its full power to suppress the terrorist group.

In revenge for the deadly attacks by Daesh in Tehran, the IRGC announced on Sunday evening that it has hit the terrorist group's stronghold in eastern Syrian Province of Deir al-Zour in a missile attack.

Daesh claimed the responsibility for the twin coordinated terrorist attacks in Tehran on June 7, which left 18 people, mostly civilians, killed and 57 more injured. The Islamic Republic of Iran had warned earlier that it would not leave unanswered the terrorist bloodshed.

“By the attack, Iran sent a message to the terrorists that if they threaten the country’s security, the Islamic Republic will use a major part of its deterrence power to target them,” Dehghani Firouzabadi said.

“The message of the missile attack to the terrorists was that Iran, as a powerful country, is protecting both its own and the neighboring countries security,” he said, adding that the least insecurity caused by the terrorists would be responded by targeting their command centers.
