Nicaraguan President congratulates Rouhani on reelection

Tehran, May 22, IRNA – Daniel Ortega President of Nicaragua and Vice President of the Central American nation Rosario Murillo have extended their congratulations on reelection of Hassan Rouhani as Iran’s new President.

Your victory in Iran’s recent presidential election is the manifestation of standing up for people’s rights and strengthening democracy at the present juncture in the Islamic Republic, Ortega and Murillo said in their message to President-elect Rouhani.

“We join you to celebrate your victory in world we live in; a world overwhelmed with difficulties,” they said.

“And we respect the will of the Iranian people, the revolution and leadership of the country and the choice made by them to strengthen constructive engagement with the world to promote dignity of the Iranian people and peace and solidarity among the nation, the message said.

We remain to be certain that Iran and Nicaragua will continue their unconditional brotherly and friendly relations, the message further said.

Hassan Rouhani was elected as the President of Iran for the second term on May 19, with 23 million votes (57%) out of the 40 million ballots cast.
