Iran’s Greco-Roman wrestling team ranks 3rd at world cup

Abadan, Khuzestan prov., March 17, IRNA – Iran’s senior Greco-Roman wrestling team defeated Turkey and ranked third at the 2017 World Cup.

The 2017 Greco-Roman Wrestling World Cup opened in Abadan on Thursday morning and ended on Friday.

Eight top world wrestling teams, namely Iran, Russia, Turkey, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Germany, Ukraine and Azerbaijan, had participated in the tournament.

Iran pitted against Russia, Kazakhstan and Germany in Group B.

Iran beat Turkey 7-1 on Friday and ranked third in the tournament.

In its first games in the tournament, Iran beat Germany and Kazakhstan on Thursday but it was defeated by Russia and missed the chance to enter final games.

Russia by defeating Azerbaijan Republic ranked the champion of this tournament.
