Iran Greco-Roman wrestlers defeated by Russia in 2017 World Cup

Abadan, Khuzestan prov, March 16, IRNA – Iran’s national Greco-Roman wrestling team was defeated by Russia 5-3 in its second game in 2017 World Cup underway in Abadan, southwestern Iran.

2017 Greco-Roman Wrestling World Cup opened in Abadan on Thursday morning and will come to an end on Friday.

Eight top world wrestling teams, namely Iran, Russia, Turkey, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Germany, Ukraine and Azerbaijan, have participated in the tournament.

Iran has been pitted against Russia, Kazakhstan and Germany in Group B.

In its first game in the tournament, Iran beat Germany 7-1 earlier in the day.

Iran is scheduled to play its third game against Kazakhstan and Russia will face Germany on Friday.

As it seems that Russia will have no difficulty defeating Germany, Iran will have probably no chance for advancing to the final game.
