Greek minister underlines development of ties with Iran

Athens, March 11, IRNA – Greek Minister of the Interior and Administrative Reconstruction Panagiotis Kouroumblis in a meeting with visiting Iranian lawmakers said Athens is committed to develop relations with Iran.

A group of Iranian MPs from the Iranian Parliament’s Commission on Councils and Internal Affairs paid a visit to Greece to explore avenues for boost of bilateral ties.

During the meeting, Greek interior minister expressed his satisfaction with development of Tehran-Athens relations in recent years particularly after the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras visit to Tehran in 2016.

He pointed to Iran’s role and its efforts for establishment of peace and stability in the region and said that preserving peace and joint cooperation in fighting terrorism are the regional countries’ strong needs.

Deputy Chair of the Iranian Parliament Commission on Councils and Internal Affairs Hamidreza Kazemi stressed Iran’s preparedness for development of all-out ties with Greece.
