Kuwaiti elites urge establishing friendship in region

Tehran, Feb 15, IRNA -- The region at the moment requires establishing friendship and common understanding more than ever to decrease the pressure of foreign threats by finding the common grounds, a group of Kuwaiti elites said.

Touching upon the importance of President Rouhani’s recent historic tour, Kuwaiti elite Iman Shamsedin told IRNA that on behalf of Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC), Kuwait has become responsible for paving the way to start a new discourse with Iran.

“President Rohani’s trip is regarded as a positive response to this message showing Iran's interest in developing brotherly relations with its Muslim neighbors,' he added.

He expressed hope for Rouhani’s trip to bring about basic solutions for various regional issues.

Iran has always promoted stability in the region and has always defended the rights of nations and has also prevented the interference of foreign countries.

“It is hoped for countries of the region to take advantage of Iran’s experiences in fighting terrorism, extremism and confronting illegal drugs,” he said.

“Kuwaitis would never forget Iran's friendly and positive stances in denunciation of former Iraqi regime's attack to Kuwait in 1990,” a member of Kuwait-Iran Friendship Association said.

“Bilateral trade and economic exchanges are expected to experience considerable growth after President Rouhani’s historic tour,” he added.

President Rouhani had a one-day trip to two Persian Gulf Littoral States to hold talks with officials of two members of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council on issues of mutual interest.
