Czech mountaineer rescued from blizzard in Mt Damavand

Sari, Mazandaran prov, Feb 15, IRNA – A mountaineer from the Czech Republic who was injured while climbing Mount Damavand Peak in Northern Tehran was rescued by a mountain rescue team, an official said.

“The mountaineer was a member of a three-member group including a woman and two men and he insisted on continuing climbing despite fierce blizzard,” the Managing Director of the Red Crescent Society of Mazandaran Majid Akbari said.

“The Czech mountaineer had lost stamina and was carried down the mountain by the rescue team,” he said.

During the past few months, similar accidents also happened to domestic and foreign mountaineers including Malaysian and Polish ones on the way to ascend Damavand Peak.
