Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces ready for Mosul liberation

Baghdad, Aug 18, IRNA – The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces are quite prepared to engage with the terrorists in Mosul and liberate the second-largest city in Iraq, Yousif Al-Kalabi, the military spokesperson of the force said on Thursday.

Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency, Al-Kalabi said that the Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Shaabi) are at the highest level of preparedness to fight for liberation of Mosul.

The Popular Mobilization Forces take command from commander-in-chief of Iraqi forces and will intervene to guarantee security in Mosul whenever needed, the spokesman said.

The Mosul offensive (2016), also called Operation Conquest or Operation Fatah, refers to an ongoing offensive which started in the Iraqi province of Nineveh, against Daesh positions in Mosul and the surrounding areas.

The offensive is part of the military intervention against the terrorist group known also as ISIS, with the aim of pushing them out of Mosul as well as the rest of the Nineveh Governorate.
