Park: Iran supports South Koreans hope for peaceful unity of two Koreas

Tehran, May 2, IRNA – South Korean President Park Geun-hye said on Monday that Iran supports South Koreans hope for peaceful unity between the two Korean states.

She made the remarks in a joint press conference with President Hassan Rouhani.
Park Geun-hye said that in her meeting with President Rouhani she explained the views of South Korean government concerning North Korean nuclear activities and disarmament.
She termed the UN Resolution 2207 about the Democratic People's Republic of Korea nuclear activity important and appreciated Iran's cooperation for peace and sustainable stability in the region of East Asia and peaceful unity between the two Koreas.
President Park said that she expects the visit creates new opportunities for bilateral relations and that the two governments of Iran and South Korea have constructive views on common issues.
'We discussed on joint venture investments in the fields of oil, gas, railway, ports development and water resources with President Rouhani.'
South Korea will transfer experiences in the fields of health, medical treatment, construction of hospitals to Iran, Park said.
President Park said that holding annual meeting between foreign ministers, joint economic commission and regular consultations will help progress of relations.
The two presidents agreed that development of long-term relations to be based upon expansion of cultural ties, so cultural center will open in both capitals soon and the year 2017 will be named 'cultural year of Iran-South Korea'.
President Park Geun-hye and accompanying delegation arrived in Tehran on Sunday evening for a 3-day official visit.
She is heading a 236-member delegation, including heads of big South Korean companies and industrialists.
Since beginning of diplomatic ties between the two countries in 1962, Park is the first South Korean president to pay a visit to Iran.
