Rafsanjani: Foreign investment to gain impetus in post-sanctions era

Bushehr, March 24, IRNA – Expediency Council Chairman Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Thursday that foreign capital absorption will be given momentum in the post-sanction era.

Addressing a group of senior oil industry officials on the sidelines of his visit to South Pars development project, Ayatollah Rafsanjani said that oil industry now lies in its real position in terms of production of parts and equipment.
'During war and Iraq attack on Kharg Island, the quintuple crude pipelines were seriously damaged as a result of the aerial bombardments; those times repair of the pipelines seemed to be difficult and impossible but our experts tried hard and did the job well those times and did not allow any disruption in the country's crude oil exports. Fortunately, (former Iraqi President) Saddam failed to meet his goal in this concern up to the end of the war.'
Ayatollah Rafsanjani said western sanctions targeted Iranian oil industry.
For the time being, thanks to the endeavors of Iranian experts, engineers and scientists, the country has gained good success in this regard, necessitating materialization of objectives of the oil industry through constant efforts and careful and comprehensive planning on part of the R&D and scientific centers, added Ayatollah Rafsanjani.
The Ayatollah said now, Iran is the safest country in the Middle East and the world and the investors, active in the field of energy, face unprecedented opportunities.
He hoped that through efforts of the Government of Hope and Prudence, foreign investors will return to Iranian oil industry once again as government's active diplomacy will prove highly effective and reap good results.
