Addressing a conference on Iran’s machine-made carpet industry, Director General of Textile, Apparel, and Leather Industries said over 95 percent of the country’s textile industry, encompassing machine-made carpets, yarn, fabric, and dyeing, is run by the private sector.
The value of Iran’s annual export in this sector is dlrs. 350 million, Ms. Golnar Nasrollahi said.
Over 60 percent of required apparels in the country are made using either Iranian or imported fabric, she noted.
She referred to the damage that trafficking of fabric, garment and blanket inflicts on the industry and called on the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade to fight against smugglers of textile industries.
She also mentioned that budgets have been allocated to the renovation of the related machineries.
Referring to the existing recession in the marketing of textile products, Ms. Nasrollahi said that a committee has been set up recently to follow up the bottlenecks and examine ways to revitalize the industry.
