Iran reduces dependency on oil income: Russian expert

Tehran, Feb 25, IRNA – Head of the Iran Department at the Institute of Oriental Studies in Moscow Professor Nina Mamedova said Tehran is successfully implementing its economic policies and has reduced dependency on oil revenues.

'Iran has been implementing the program on export restructuring and its plans for increasing non-oil exports are underway and have attained great achievements,' she said.
'Iran's non-oil exports have increased tens of times and it is exporting various types of industrial products such as cars and agricultural products to different countries.'
Mamedova said that Iran's reduction of oil dependency has resulted in expansion of commercial ties with Russia and Moscow is becoming a major importer of Iran's agricultural products.
'Iran and Russia have signed up a good number of agreements,' she added hoping for their implementation.
'Iran and Russia are cooperating in the field of advanced technologies, construction of thermal and nuclear power plants and their trade exchanges are booming,' she said.
