Iran saves $15m a year from burning off flammable gas

Tehran, Feb 17, IRNA -- Iran saves dlrs 15 million a year from burning off flammable gas released by pressure relief valves in gas fields and channeling them to the refineries, managing director of Fajr Jam Gas refinery Hadi Hashemzadeh Farhang said on Wednesday.

Farhang said that the project to process gas flare has been very instrumental to curb air pollution in the region.
He said the refinery has produced 37,500 tons of LPG since March 21, start of the Iranian year which is 4% more than the envisaged volume.
He added that the refinery is planned to receive 50 mcm/d of natural gas from the super giant South Pars gas field which Iran share with Qatar in Persian Gulf waters within the next three years.
Fajr Jam refinery is currently being fed by deliveries from Nar, Kangan and South Pars gas fields.
