Pakistan considers Iran 'important neighbor': Top Pak official

Islamabad, Jan 2, IRNA – The Pakistani foreign secretary says Pakistan considers Iran as an important neighboring state.

Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry in an interview with Pakistan state television said Iran-Pakistan relations have deep roots in history.
“We have centuries-long cultural relations with Iran,” he said.
He further added that Pakistan believes in policy of non-intervention and non-interference in Middle East.
“We believe that peaceful and political process should be adopted to find solutions in Middle East rather than use of force,” he said.
Earlier on Friday, Minister of Commerce Khurram Dastgir has said Pakistan is comprehensively engaged with Iran to enhance bilateral trade and economic relations.
Speaking in the Senate he said that the bilateral relations have witnessed an improvement following the visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to Iran in May 2014.
President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain while receiving credentials from new Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Mahdi Honardoost, had also reiterated that there is enough potential to bring bilateral trade to 5 billion dollars.
