Addressing his weekly press briefing, Ansari said, 'What happened in Mina was a catastrophe erupted in the Land of God in complete sense of the word. As a government, hosting Hajj rituals, Saudi Government holds judicial, moral and humanitarian responsibility to pay compensation to the families.'
'We used our capacity through diplomatic channels, both on bilateral and multilateral levels, to oblige the Saudi government to admit responsibility,' he added.
He said Iran has on agenda, activation of a judicial network, comprising distinguished jurors, to prepare a judicial report on the human loss.
He added that efforts have been made to make the host government admit its judicial and humanitarian responsibility.
The Hajj tragedy occurred after two large masses of pilgrims converged at a crossroad at Mina, near the holy city of Mecca during the symbolic ceremony of the Stoning of Satan in Jamarat.
