Iran hits Guam 6-0 in World Cup qualifying

Tehran, Nov 17, IRNA – Iran's national football team thrashed Guam 6-0 on Tuesday to move into top spot in Group D in Asian qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

According to media reports, some players and staff were unable to enter Guam due to visa issues.

In a pre-match press conference, Iran national football team head coach Carlos Queiroz said he believed that despite suffering from the difficulties of the trip, from obtaining visas to jet lag to playing on artificial turf, Team Melli will play against Guam with no excuse.

Iran topped Group D of the Asia World Cup 2018 Qualifying after beating Turkmenistan 3-1 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on Thursday (Nov 12).
