Iran to despatch minister to investigate hajj tragedy

Tehran, Sept 25, IRNA - The Iranian cabinet in an extraoridnary session on Friday decided to despatch the Minsiter of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati to Saudi Arabia to investigate the Minas tampede tragedy which has reportedly claimed lives of above 2,000 hajj pilgrims.

Presided by First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri, cabinet ministers reviewed the reports on the death of 131 Iranian pilgrism who lost their lives in the incident on Thursday and condoled with the bereaving families.

The cabinet also stressed that the Saudi government shall be held accountable for the lives of Iranian martyrs, as well as the 85 in hospitals, and some 365 missing so far.

It said the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to seriously follow up the incident from the government in Riyadh as the organizer of the annual hajj rituals.

The relatives of the most disastrous fatal event in the history of hajj pilgrimage are shocked with their hearts filled with deep sorrow both in Iranian pilgrims' camps in Saudi Arabia and back home in Iran, awaiting justice for the creators of this catastrophe in the Islamic World.
