Iran welcomes promotion of China role in world: Economy minister

Tehran, Sept 24, IRNA – Iran welcomes promotion of People's Republic of China in the world, Minister of Economy Ali Tayebnia said on Wednesday.

Speaking in a ceremony held at the Chinese Embassy in Tehran to celebrate the 66th anniversary of National Day of People's Republic of China, Tayebnia said that Iran and China as two ancient civilizations had role in progress of world culture and civilization. Referring to the history of Iran-China relations and their economic ties through the ancient Silk Road, Tayebnia noted Iran welcomes revival of China role in the international community. The official pointed to improvement of Chinese people's welfare and the country's scientific progress and voiced Iran's readiness to use China experience for development. Referring to Tehran-Beijing good relations during the sanctions, Tayebnia said that Iran is keen to increase bilateral ties with china in the post-sanctions era. Iran and China have good penitential for increase of ties in fields of investment, science and technology, he added. The economy minister underlined that fighting terrorism, violence and extremism is the strategic principle of Iran's foreign policy. Establishment of peace and security is the pre-condition to any type of development in the world and the region, he noted. Tayebnia called Iran and China role in establishment of peace in the region 'important,' adding that all nations have a responsibility for elimination of poverty, discrimination and violence in the world. Chinese Ambassador to Iran Pang Sen also lectured at the ceremony, saying that revival of the ancient Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road helps development of regional nations' economy. He urged all regional nations including Iran to help revival of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Route Economic Belt as the best way to connect the regional nations. Ambassador Pang Sen said that prosperity of China is very much dependent on prosperity of other nations. He added Beijing is keen to help development of other countries particularly Iran whose economy is complementary to China's economy. Iran and China have had the best relations for the past 44 years, the envoy said. He referred to the meetings between Iranian and Chinese high-ranking officials, adding that Tehran and Beijing enjoy cordial ties. China would do its best to help enforcement of the deals between Tehran and Beijing, the ambassador added. The National Day of the People's Republic of China is a public holiday in the People's Republic of China to celebrate their national day, and is celebrated annually on October 1. The PRC was founded on October 1, 1949, with a ceremony at Tiananmen Square. The Central People's Government passed the Resolution on the National Day of the People's Republic of China on December 2, 1949, and declared that October 1 is the National Day. 9191**1420
