Quake jolts Rayen suburbs in Kerman Prov.

Tehran, Sept 18, IRNA – A quake, measuring four degrees on the open-ended richter scale, shook Rayen suburbs in Kerman Province at 06:36 hours (02:06 GMT) local time on Friday.

The Seismological center of Tehran University Geophysics Center, said the quake was located at 29.55 degrees north longitude and 57.54 degrees east latitude. There were no immediate reports of casualties or material damage. Iran is frequently hit by quakes. In 2003 tens of thousands of people were killed in a quake which flattened Bam. More than 300 people died in two quakes in northwestern Iran in August this year. 1420
