Papua New Guinea Supreme Court orders prevention of compulsory deportation of Iranian refugees

Kuala Lumpur, Aug 26, IRNA – Supreme Court of Papua New Guinea in Pacific Ocean issued a temporary verdict on Wednesday to stop compulsory deportation of Iranian refugees from Manus Island.

IRNA quoting New Zealand Radio reported that the Supreme Court after deporting two Iranian refugees to Tehran in past week issued a temporary verdict to stop compulsory deportation of the refugees.
Papua New Guinea has dealt with refugees intended to migrate to Australia very toughly. Australia has two camps in Manus and Nauru Islands to prevent entry of refugees to its territory.
Canberra is trying to return the refugees whose request have been denied, but Iran has rejected such method.
Iran believes in freedom of Iranian citizens to choose their residence and if some one voluntarily wants to return to Iran it is okay.
According to Australian media statistics, currently there are 300 Iranian refugees in Manus and 166 in Nauru camps.
Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has recently replied to a question by IRNA correspondent concerning Australia policy on compulsory deportation of Iranian refugees, which is not in accordance with the International Law.
Currently, there are 8,000 Iranian refugees in Australia.
