Iranian artists will perform in Italy

Tehran, July 29, IRNA - Iranian play ‘Human Castle’, written and directed by Ali Shams, will be performed in Rome, Italy in the near future.

According to Mehr News Agency, the play was performed for the first time at the 33rd Fajr International Theater Festival, held in Tehran from January 21 to February 1. The troupe embarked on a European tour after their performance in the festival and performed in the Italian cities of Florence and Rome.

Shams will stage the theater production in Tehran’s Sayeh Hall from September 2 to 11 and after that the troupe will hold performances in Rome.

‘Human Castle’ is about the destruction of cultural heritage and ancient historical artifacts by the Takfiri ISIL terrorist group in Mosul, Iraq.

The cast of the play includes Italian and Iranian actors and actresses.

‘Human Castle’ — a joint Iranian-Italian production — narrates the story of two cousins who, despite growing up together, adopt diverse views on the terrorist attacks on their city.

It also depicts the atrocities of the Mongols during their invasion of Iran 700 years ago comparing it with that of ISIL at present.

The play analyzes the catastrophic consequences of war and massacre.

Shams uses scale models to show different locations and soldiers, placing them on a revolving table representing the world. The play’s personages narrate their stories using the models.
