According to Al-Sharq website, 20 manuscripts of the Holy Quran, the oldest one of which dates back to 700 years ago, have been put on display at the exhibition.
A tableau featuring 21-year participation of Qatari Quran reciters at the international Quran competitions in different countries has also been exhibited at the hotel.
There are also some children artworks including illumination and painting of Quranic verses presented at the exhibition.
It was opened on the sidelines of a ceremony held to honor winners of the 21st edition of “Sheikh Jasim bin Muhammad bin Thani” Quran competition in Qatar.
Also on the sidelines of the ceremony, Ghaith bin Mubarak Al-Kuwari, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Qatar, had a visit with representatives of national and international Quran competitions in the member states of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and discussed the methods to promote the competitions in these regions and to encourage Muslims to memorize and contemplate on the Holy Quran.
The minister, accompanied by a number of the foreign guests and representatives of the Muslim countries, then visited the exhibition.
The national Quran competition in Qatar was held from November 22 to December 1 in the capital city of Doha.
Memorization of the entire Quran with Tajweed, and memorization of 25, 20, 15, 10 and 5 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Quran were the categories of the competition.
