Pakistani Speaker: IP gas pipeline shortest, safest route for transfer of energy

Islamabad, Dec 7, IRNA -- Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, said in Islamabad on Sunday that the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline is the shortest and safest route for transfer of energy to Pakistan.

Speaking to IRNA, Sadiq said Pakistan considers itself committed to laying pipeline for transfer of gas from Iran and is highly interested in enforcing the project because the pipeline is the shortest possible path for iporting energy from Iran.

'We are moving fast towards implementation of the project,' he added.

Sadiq referred to his recent 'helpful' meeting with his Iranian counterpart and said it was like a meeting between two brothers and we shared many common views on many subjects.'

Noting that the two sides had in their talks underlined the need for strengthening unity and brotherhood among Muslim Ummah, the Pakistani parliamentarian said Muslim Ummah is a united one and issues aimed at dividing Shiites and Sunnis, will never harm the united Ummah.
