Iran not committed to IAEA demands beyond NPT: MP

Tehran, Feb 13, IRNA – a senior Iranian lawmaker said on Wednesday that Iran is not committed to demands of International Atomic Energy Agency beyond Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Hossein Naghavi Hosseini who is the rapporteur of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran’s Majlis said that Iran-IAEA negotiations are being held about technical issues.

He expressed hope that the new round of negotiations will yield good results.

The 8th round of Iran-IAEA talks started today with participation of officials and experts from both sides.

The IAEA delegation headed by the nuclear agency’s Deputy Director General Herman Nackaerts arrived in Tehran earlier in the day for a one-day visit, but it is possible that the negotiations will be extended to tomorrow.

Ali-Asghar Soltanieh, Iran’s permanent envoy to IAEA heads the Iranian delegation.
