Minister: Registration of candidates for next presidential elections to start May 6, 2013

Tehran, Dec 15, IRNA – Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said registration of candidates for the next presidential elections will start on May 6, 2013.

He told reporters on Saturday that the hopefuls will have five days to register with the Interior Ministry’s elections headquarters for the 11th presidential elections.

According to the minister, the fourth round of city council elections will also be held simultaneous with the presidential elections on Friday, June 13, 2013.

Mohammad Najjar further noted that those interested in running for City Council elections will have to register as of April 20, 2013 for seven days.

Simultaneously, he added, by-elections for the 9th Majlis will be held in Damavand and Firouzkouh in Tehran province, Ilam in Ilam province, Toyserkan in Hamedan province and Tonekabon in Mazandaran province.

The minister noted that by-elections for the Assembly of Experts will be held in two provinces of West Azarbaijan and Kohgilouyeh and Boyerahmad.
