Ahmadinejad to visit three Latin American countries
Tehran, May 3, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will pay official visits to three Latin American countries at the end of this week.
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in an interview with TV channel 2 said the president is scheduled to visit Brazil, Venezuela, and Ecuador.
Mottaki said President Ahmadinejad's visit to Brasilia would be a new chapter of mutual ties after 17 years, which began by last year visit of Brazilian FM to Tehran and his Iranian counterpart reciprocal visit late March, 2009.
He added that President's visit to Brazil, considering potentials of both countries and ties upon mutual respect and interests, is very important.
Mottaki said President Ahmadinejad's visit to Ecuador aims to follow last year agreements reached between the two presidents in Tehran.
Concerning Venezuela visit, the foreign minister said it is in direction of continued cooperation and follow up of the agreements as well as establishment of a joint fund for cooperation and investment in a third country with its headquarter in Caracas.
The fund is part of a joint Iran-Venezuela Bank which its office opened last March in Tehran.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Ambassador to Brazil Mohsen Shaterzadeh said that a high ranking economic delegation including 110 representatives from 65 companies in different sectors of oil, gas, petrochemicals, agriculture, food industry, car manufacturing and construction industry will accompany President in his visit to Brazil.
